Frequently asked questions

What is Termio?

Termio lets you control your coding agents — Claude Code, Cursor, Codex, and Gemini — running on your Mac from your iPhone or iPad. Send messages, watch pane output stream in real time, and approve or reject agent actions — all from your phone. The relay server routes your messages; it never stores your terminal contents.

What do I need to use Termio?

  • A Mac running the Termio daemon (macOS 13 Ventura or later recommended).
  • A coding agent — Claude Code, Cursor, Codex, or Gemini — running in a tmux session on that Mac.
  • The Termio iOS app on an iPhone or iPad (iOS 17 or later).
  • An internet connection on both devices — they do not need to be on the same network.

How do I get started?

  1. 1.Install the daemon on your Mac by following the setup guide in the app or on the quickstart page.
  2. 2.Pairby tapping “Add Mac” in the iOS app and entering the 6-digit code shown by the daemon on your Mac.
  3. 3.Connect— once paired, your Mac's tmux panes appear automatically. Tap any pane to start controlling your agent from your phone.

What is Termio Pro?

Termio Pro is an optional auto-renewing subscription ($3.99 / month) that unlocks additional features such as multiple paired Macs, priority relay routing, and Pro-only UI enhancements. The core experience — pairing one Mac and controlling your agent — is available on the free tier.

To manage or cancel your subscription: open iOS Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions, find Termio, and tap Cancel Subscription. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. Apple handles all billing; we do not store your payment details.

Does Termio store my terminal contents?

No. The relay is a router, not a logger. Terminal output, pane buffers, user prompts, and agent responses are never written to disk on the server. A short in-memory replay buffer (≤10 min / ≤1 MB per pane) exists for reconnection robustness and evaporates the moment your Mac daemon disconnects. See the Privacy Policy for full details.

Common issues

The app shows “Daemon offline”

Make sure the Termio daemon is running on your Mac (termio-daemon start). Check that your Mac has an active internet connection. If the daemon is running but the app still shows offline, restart the daemon and pull down to refresh in the app.

Pairing code not accepted

Pair codes expire after 5 minutes. Generate a fresh code by running termio-daemon pair on your Mac and enter it promptly in the iOS app.

Lost connection / panes not updating

Pull down to refresh in the app. If panes remain stale, force-quit and reopen the Termio app. For persistent issues, restart the daemon on your Mac with termio-daemon restart.

Need to re-pair a Mac

In the iOS app, remove the Mac under Settings, then run termio-daemon pair to generate a fresh pairing code and add the Mac again.
